Sapiens Launches Insurance-Native AI Foundation

By Sapiens - 14 October 2026

The Sapiens Brain knowledge layer grounds external AI agents in insurance-specific product, regulatory and system context across SapiensAIP.

Sapiens (London) has launched Sapiens Brain, an insurance-specific AI foundation designed to provide models and agents running on SapiensAIP—the company’s recently announced AI platform for the insurance industry—with domain knowledge drawn from the company’s insurance software, documentation and product history.

Paul Wheeler, CEO, Sapiens.

Sapiens says the technology incorporates millions of lines of code, product documentation and design artifacts into an interconnected knowledge layer intended to ground AI models in insurance terminology, product logic, regulatory requirements and operational context.

The company positions Sapiens Brain as a way to reduce the risk of AI drift and hallucination by giving general-purpose models a domain-specific body of information against which to reason.

“There’s a unique pressure within our industry to modernize, and AI is the key to unlocking that,” comments Paul Wheeler, CEO, Sapiens. “The unique combination of SapiensAIP and Sapiens Brain allows agents built outside our core systems to behave as though they were born within them—grafted back in like tissue, not bolted on like a robotic limb.”

Separating AI From the Core

Sapiens has deliberately built SapiensAIP and its AI agents outside its core insurance systems, arguing that core platforms require stability and controlled release cycles while AI technology changes much more rapidly.

The company exposes its core systems to SapiensAIP through Model Context Protocol (MCP), which it says enables agents to interact with core-system context without relying solely on traditional manually mapped API integrations.

Glen Ceniza, CTO, Sapiens.

“SapiensAIP gives us access to value at a pace that’s relevant for AI,” Wheeler says. “We’re not just making existing processes faster—we’re rethinking what’s possible in claims, underwriting, migration and configuration, which gives our customers the certainty and clarity they’ve never had before.”

Glen Ceniza, CTO, Sapiens, describes Sapiens Brain as an interconnected memory system that provides AI models with insurance-specific context rather than relying only on information learned from general-purpose training data.

“AI models today are extraordinary, but a model by itself doesn’t understand insurance,” Ceniza comments. “Sapiens Brain gives the model the insurance-specific memory that’s grounded, cited and hallucination-resistant by construction.”

Governance and Explainability

Sapiens says Sapiens Brain and SapiensAIP maintain audit trails and agent-inspection logs designed to record AI decisions and reasoning.

The company also says it uses fit-for-purpose, domain-tuned models for contained tasks rather than applying a single model across entire workflows.

“That’s why every decision our agents make is logged and auditable,” Ceniza says. “Trust in AI comes from a quality standard—accurate decisioning, consistency and explainability.”

SapiensAIP supports agentic workflows across areas including policy administration, underwriting, claims, reinsurance, decisioning, finance and compliance.
