In this webinar, Nick Zambruno (Insurance Growth Lead at Human API) engaged in a discussion with Nick Irwin (Director, Life Underwriting at Verisk) and Keith Brown (Product Owner, Verisk FAST) on how structured electronic health records (EHR) data can power automated risk scores that accelerate underwriting. Watch the full webinar recording to see a live demo of the Verisk and Human API integration and learn how EHR data and risk scores can empower carriers to make better underwriting decisions, faster.
Electronic health records (EHRs) have been steadily gaining traction in the life insurance industry in the last few years, propelled by the pandemic and rapidly changing customer expectations. This repository of digital data is fertile grounds for innovations that allow carriers and distribution partners to create and deliver modern experiences while enabling underwriters to accelerate underwriting.
Many carriers may be inclined to view EHRs as an APS replacement, but this perception is changing as new innovations are enabled by structured EHR data that can be consumed programmatically by new technologies such as Verisk’s EHR Triage Engine.
In this webinar, we discussed:
- How Human API enables seamless EHR data collection upfront during the application process (through a patient portal or HIPAA authorization approach), and how the collected data can be leveraged downstream
- How the life insurance industry can move beyond manual EHR data review by feeding structured EHR data from Human API into Verisk’s EHR Triage Engine to create risk scores that automate underwriting
- How life insurance health intelligence can be created on top of aggregated, normalized EHR data
